Elementary and Early Childhood Education/Educational Studies (Assistant Professor)
Seeking an individual who will be TEACHING general and content specific pedagogy in elementary mathematics and science; teaching multi-disciplinary courses on schooling, teaching and learning, and educational foundations from a multicultural perspective; and working in the public schools in collaboration with in-service and pre-service teachers. Other responsibilities include research and service. RESEARCH includes developing and maintaining an active scholarly agenda which advances knowledge and understanding of educational theories and principles. SERVICE includes commitment to the department, college, university and professional organizations.
Successful candidates must have an earned ED.D. or Ph.D. from a recognized program in teacher education by the start date, August 17, 2010 (required); three years of classroom teaching experience at pre-K-6 levels that includes mathematics and/or science instruction or its equivalent (required); experience with multi-disciplinary teaching (desired); experiences with multicultural/multilingual student populations, cross-cultural teaching experiences, and/or an ability speak more than one language (desired); experiences with and academic interests in multicultural/social justice education (desired); experience with Professional Development Schools, performance-based assessments, and classroom and school-based inquiry (desired); and effective communication skills (desired).
