As per the following request for an electronic vote by governing council chair, Greg Bernhardt, the governing council members have voted and the results are that Colorado State University and partner school districts' request to join the NNER as an independent NNER setting is unanimously approved.
May 27, 2008
Dear NNER Governing Council Members:
Ann Foster, NNER Executive Director, has received a formal request from the Colorado State University Partnership including Arts & Science, Teacher Education, and Public School Districts requesting to remain as NNER members, but to become a separate setting within the State of Colorado. CoPER. the state-wide consortium of P-12 and Higher Education partners, has formally decided to dissolve and is systematically going through that process currently.
The NNER Governing Council's Executive Board, reviewed Colorado State University's request and conducted a phone conference on Friday, May 23rd, 2008, to consider their request. An excerpt from the letter submitted by the CSU partners appears below:
"Please accept this correspondence as our official petition and request to change our membership status within the National Network for Educational Renewal (NNER). We are requesting that Colorado State University, with our partner school districts, become a NNER setting within the State of Colorado.
We believe strongly in the work of the NNER and feel that as the organization enters its next iteration we can be active, visible partners in our collective work in Colorado. The partner school districts working with Colorado State University make a strong partnership example of the longstanding work of NNER. It is with great enthusiasm that we make this request, as we look to the future of possibilities and opportunities for students across the state of Colorado."
It is the recommendation of the NNER Executive Committee that the Colorado State University Partnership be granted continuing membership in the NNER as an individual setting in Colorado, effective July 1, 2008. This recommendation requires a majority vote of the NNER Governing Council to support the recommendation.
Please send your electronic vote to support (yes) or not support (no) this recommendation for membership to Dr. Ann Foster, Executive Director, NNER by Friday, June 6, 2008. (annfoster@nnerpartnerships.org or annf2@u.washington.edu)
